I'm Ivan Arena, software engineer and published author based in Vienna, AT.

Currently driving innovation at NOWA, building full-stack AI-powered solutions for the Viennese entrepreneurial ecosystem.

Previously, at Dreamplan, I was researching, designing and building solutions to democratize financial advice using a wide range of tools and languages at the edge of AI/ML research and software engineering for over two and a half years (see my master's thesis).

At Qualcomm, I reverse-engineered state-of-the-art DL and AI models of the time (up to GPT-2) to make them run on custom AI chips and built a whole infrastructure around it which also ended up as a contribution to Hugging Face’s open-source Diffusers library.

In 2026 I completed an MSc Computer Science and Engineering at the Technical University of Denmark (DTU) with a focus on AI and software engineering.

While there, I also attended a semester at Universitat Politècnica de Catalunya in Barcelona studying advanced AI/ML and SWE courses.

In 2023 I completed my BSc in Computer Science at the University of Padua, which gave me solid foundations in algorithms and data structures.
